Elements

Each element represents 10-15 men, or a similar number of riders and their mounts. It can also represent a vehicle or heavy weapon/artillery piece and its crew and any draft animals.

Attributes

Elements are rated for the following attributes:
  • Troop Strength (TS): an abstract measurement of combat effectiveness
  • Class: special classes that help gain TS bonuses if one force has significantly more of that class then the opponent. Example: Armor, Cavalry, Air, C3I.
  • Weight (WT): how heavy the unit is for transport purposes
  • Mobility (Mob): How the unit moves normally (foot/mounted/etc)
  • Raise: Cost to raise an average element of this type
  • Maintain: Cost to maintain an average element of this type

Special Abilities

Elements may have special special features which modify any or all of these attributes, or give other special effects. Examples include: Disloyal, Fantatic, Impetuous, Mercenary, and many more.

Training and Equipping

Quality of both equipment and training is also a major factor in the cost and effectiveness of a unit. Equipment quality is listed as 'Very Fine', 'Fine', 'Good', 'Basic', or 'Poor', while training is listed as 'Elite', 'Good', 'Average', or 'Inferior'. The cost of equipment represents the actual cost of the provided items, while training costs represent the cost of trainers, training equipment, and the cost of the troop's time while they are being trained (likely the bulk of the amount).
